The bathypelagic zone is in the middle of the 5 zones. It is also known as the midnight zone. The animals that live in this zone lure their prey by their bioluminescent light. These animals are also mostly black, red, or transparent. These fish also tend to have lower metabolic rates, less developed gills and muscles, and small eyes. Most of the fish grow no bigger than human hand and have weak, flabby bodies.
